OP Freuler, Dense Composition – Contemporary Abstract

OP Freuler, Dense Composition – Contemporary Abstract

OP Freuler (Olivier Pascal Freuler) is a Swiss painter who originally trained in graphic design and parallel developed an appreciation for the more progressive work of his American and European contemporaries.

A strong theme in most of his work is the element of chance, and the movement between realism and abstraction.

OP Freuler has maintained a fascination for the power of images.  He borrows much of his fine arts from photographs from his own collection or from newspapers. This performance of visual compression, in which images and painting merge to make a unique fine art piece, suggests that this is like a conversion of the “actual” into the “unreal”.

In OP Freuler’s completely abstract canvases, the paintings have many layers, strokes, and scrapes of color which may appear as beautiful as something observed in landscape.
